Shane Lynch

SHANE LYNCH
Participation coordinator

Shane is very excited to have been asked to take on the role of participation coordinator for 1623 theatre company. Having attended and facilitated participatory projects for the company, he is inspired by 1623's ethos of seeing Shakespeare differently.

His love of Shakespeare and performing began at the age of twelve, when he was cast in his first professional role as Macduff's son in the English Shakespeare Company’s 1992 tour of Macbeth.

From there, he has gone on to work with several theatre companies and projects both nationally and internationally in such places as New York and Cyprus, where he performed in a variety of venues from traditional theatre spaces, schools, amphitheatres, Shakespeare festivals, night clubs, hotels and site-specific locations.

Before moving to Derby, Shane was a teacher at Onstage Theatre Arts Academy in Leeds. He also worked up and down the UK for Barnstormer Murders, a company providing murder mystery events.

Shane has many years facilitating workshops and using theatre as a social tool for young adults who are living in a healthcare setting. As such, he champions the healing power of theatre both for the individual and the community.

Having decided to return to study, he recently graduated with a first-class BA Hons degree in Theatre Arts at the University of Derby.

Shane feels honoured to be a part of 1623 and he is looking forward to working with various communities to find new ways to explore our world through Shakespeare.
