Excite your class with Shakespeare by combining energetic drama with fun animation.
For primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities.
Animating Shakespeare consists of two related half-day workshops run by QUAD and 1623 theatre company
Workshop 1 : DRAMA AND STORYBOARDING (2.5 hours at school/college/university or QUAD). Theatre games and activities based on a Shakespeare play of your choice facilitated by 1623 to explore the play’s plot, language, characters and themes; by the end of the workshop your class will produce some basic storyboard ideas to tell the story of the play, or part of it, or a new story inspired by it, to use in the next workshop
Workshop 2 : ANIMATION AND SCREENING (2.5 hours at QUAD). Reviewing storyboards from the first workshop before transforming them into short animations with a QUAD associate artist by creating characters and backdrops to set the scene before using simple animation techniques; all animations will be screened at the end of the workshop and sent to you via web transfer after the workshop
The two workshops can be run on the same day at QUAD with a break for lunch (not provided) in between, or run on two separate half-day sessions at at school/college/university and QUAD.
COST
: £350 in total, all-inclusive, for both workshops
