We're offering free creative workshops for people living with dementia, thanks to support from Arts Council England and 1623 friends.

For three months only, we're inviting residents of dementia care homes to explore the contents of a very special memory box in a unique, free-of-charge workshop.

Together, we'll open up the box and use the sensory objects inside to tell the story of Lear and his daughters, before shaping new stories inspired by the objects.

We'll do this through music, song, movement and words in response to the objects. All activities will be interactive for those who wish to take part.

Lear's Memory Box workshops are guided by a facilitator who has extensive experience of working with people who are living with dementia.

The workshops are designed to evoke memories and stimulate imagination in a fun and creative way for all participants in a safe and social environment.

They are inspired by 1623 theatre company's Lear/Cordelia, based on a recent project that researched the relationship between Shakespeare's King Lear and dementia.

Workshops are free (normally £255) thanks to the support of Arts Council England and 1623 friends.

We suggest two hours for a workshop with a break in the middle, but this is flexible to fit in with care-home schedules.

If you're a care-home manager or activity coordinator, please contact 1623 participation coordinator  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  for more details.

These workshops are only available free-of-charge up to the end of March 2017.
