Digital artist Darius Powell created three animated collages based on the responses to King Lear's phrase "Let me not be mad" that we received after a public callout in 2013. These collages will inform Darius's digital designs for our upcoming production Lear/Cordelia, which pilots in Derby and Leicester in Autumn 2016.
Between July and September 2013, you sent us your creative responses to King Lear's phrase "Let me not be mad". We received the fantastic photographs, videos, audio recordings and poems below. All of these responses inspired Darius's animated collages above. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
Let Me Not Be Mad was one of three strands of research that we conducted into King Lear and dementia.
We developed our research into a work-in-progress performance, which took place at Derby Theatre Studio on Friday 6 December 2013.
For more details on all three strands of our research and how we plan to turn them into a new theatre production inspired by Shakespeare's play click here.
